Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan has landed himself in a controversy over his recent comment on Bakr-Eid. According to Irrfan, slaughtering of ‘Bakra’ does not mean Qurbani, the traditional style of sacrifice by Muslims.
The actor even feels that the the real meaning behind rituals and festivals has been forgotten and been turned into a spectacle. “Goat was then a prime source of food and there were many who went hungry. So you had to, in a way, sacrifice something dear to you and distribute it to people,” is what Khan had said.
There is nothing wrong in what the actor said. But seems like his remark on Islamic ritual of ‘qurbani’ did not go too well with the Muslim Clerics as they now seek apology from Irrfan.
