Diwali is known as the festival of lights. We light lamps, decorate our homes indoors and outdoors, wear new clothes, share sweets and yes, burst a lot of crackers. Has anyone ever wondered why we burst crackers on Diwali? Well, it mustn’t have struck most of us as our mind already stays occupied with the list of crackers we need to buy, or with other plans and celebrations, during the festival. But like certain things we do in every festival, like animal sacrifice during Bakri-Eid and Kali Puja, or Kumari Puja during Durga Puja, there is a reason why we burst crackers on Diwali.
Crackers are very harmful for health. These are not only the cause for air pollution but also noise pollution. Crackers are injurious to senior citizens and children’s health. It is not only injurious to humans but also for other living beings. Animals whose ears are more sensitive such as Dogs and Cats get afraid and often lose their hearing ability. These problems are also faced by us and these crackers often lead to temporary or permanent deafness.
Although we advised you all to encourage a cracker-free Diwali,a breathtaking video from the streets of Mumbai has come up, which will blow your mind!
