Every Party has its eye on the election scheduled in the state which is supposedly called “The Mini Bharat“. The cycle party is often seen having nasty fights within the family, and the elephant party focusing only on the Dalits. Uttar Pradesh can already feel the heat of 2017 elections. Has the game just begun? Eager to see who will hit the bull’s eye? You have no choice, but to wait for the right time. As of now, just focus on the drama!
Akhilesh Yadav kickstarted his “Vikas Rath Yatra” by donating men-cycles to women focusing to promote his party and win Uttar Pradesh back again for the 2nd consecutive time. This is the best we can expect from a party that has only been minting money in the name of politics and development.
Samajwadi Party(SP) supremo and the party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav flagged off “The HI-TECH Rath Yatra“ this morning from Lucknow along with brother Shivpal Yadav, who was recently engaged in a bitter and ugly feud with the state Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. The open spat had kind of split the party. But, the presence of Mulayam, Shivpal and Akhilesh on one platform has come days and months after bitter acrimony in the Yadav clan.
Akhilesh Yadav launched his bid for a second term as Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh today, he will be surrounded on tour by nearly seven big youth leaders, all banned by his father, Mulayam Singh Yadav, who is also the president of Uttar Pradesh’s ruling party.
Mulayam Singh watched as his brother Shivpal Yadav grabbed the mic from Akhilesh and branded him “a liar.” Akhilesh supporters later staged a large protest at the party office. Many of them had already been expelled for indiscipline by Shivpal Yadav a few days ago.
On the first day of his tour today, Akhilesh is scheduled to travel 100 km in Lucknow and neighbouring Unnao. Though there are plans for him to stop every 2 kilometres to interact with people, he is likely to do so from a distance – on a hydraulic lift atop his Mercedes “rath“. Interesting right?
Over 3,000 vehicles, mostly SUVs, would be a part of the entourage. All roads leading to the venue – La Martiniere College ground – have been decorated with banners and were choked with people and vehicles. All schools on the yatra route are closed in view of the large turnout expected for the event. Traffic police will handle the large volumes of traffic as thousands of vehicles are likely to join the yatra.
The 37-foot-long and 15-foot tall bus has all the facilities like Wi-Fi connection, telephone connectivity, a small wash room, a mini-war room and a motorised platform, which will be propelled up by a hydraulic shaft that will bring Akhilesh out of the bus, face to face with the people. Branded by Mercedes it costs a whooping amount of Rs. 2 Crore!
While the red-colour Mercedes bus has the images of SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, chief minister himself, socialist ideologues Jayaprakash Narayan, Ram Manohar Lohia and Jnaneshwar Mishra, his uncle Shivpal’s picture is seen neither on the vehicle nor elsewhere.
The bus also has pictures of the flagship schemes of the state government — Agra-Lucknow Expressway, Free Laptop Scheme and 1090 Women helpline.
However the campaign faced technical glitch just an hour after the yatra kicked off, Akhilesh continued his journey by an SUV!
