It’s just been two days since Donald J Trump became the 45th US President. The Republican party coming into power after 2014, will be headed by the man whom people labelled with a tag of, ‘a clown’, a racist, a tax invader, a person who is said to be under investigation over a scandal and what not! The big billionaire will now be ruling the White House along with America’s first lady Melania Trump. America chose it’s destiny on 9th November and now Trump will be the most powerful man on this planet serving the most powerful nation in the world.
Apart from all the hatred and trolls spread across the social media, trump has always been a headline in the news channels. From his controversial comments during his election campaigns, targeting the Muslim community and labeling China a currency manipulator he has always been praising Indians and has promised to improve bilateral ties between India and America. “Ab ki Baar Trump Sarkar“.
After Donald Trump became the 45th US President, he was congratulated by politicians and leaders from across the world, including PM minister Narendra Modi and President Pranab Mukharji who looked forward to improve bilateral relations with US.
While campaigning, President-elect Donald Trump often targeted the policies and ideologies of the Chinese government, blaming them for the loss of jobs in America and a rise in unemployment. He pledged to designate China a national currency manipulator on his first day in office, and said he would impose a 45 percent tariff on all imports from China.
As the Republican secured his position as America’s next leader, Donald Trump got his first warning from China after Trump threatened to cancel trade and business with the Chinese. The big question here is, Are the Chinese fearing isolation and intervention from US after Donald Trump will cut bilateral trade with China and the trade loss will effect the Chinese economy? Will there be economic crisis in China after trump being elected as the President?
Chinese news agency Xinhua called for a balanced relationship between the US and China during Trump’s administration. The countries should work together to “build a new model of major power relations,” it said. Can you sense fear among the Chinese government that it will soon see a downfall in it’s economy?
To inform you, in 2015 when Barack Obama was the US President, goods and services trade deficit with China was $336.2 billion in 2015. China is currently the largest goods trading partner with $598 billion in total (two way) goods trade during 2015. Goods export totaled $116 billion, goods imports totaled $482 billion. If Trump cuts out all the trade business with China, China will soon see a downfall in its economy and that’s giving sleepless nights to the founder and CEO of Alibaba and one of China’s richest man Jack Ma, who said there would a “disaster” if President Donald Trump doesn’t work with China.
This was one reason why Hilary Clinton was widely supported by the Chinese community to become the next President-elect of US as their trade and bilateral relationship would see a up rise in the Chinese economy. But unfortunately, Hilary couldn’t manage to win and now it seems difficult to stop Trump from what he had promised during his election campaign.
We just hope Trump’s words were not only to promote his election campaign and he will soon do justice to all his words in the coming years. If Trump really cuts trade with China, we will also be eager to watch how the Chinese retaliate. Watch out, there’s a big game lined up.
