Prime Minister Narendra Modi rewrote history on the night of 8th November 2016 when he announced that old notes of the denominations of 500 and 1000 rupees will no longer be legal tender. New notes of 500 and 2000 are being issued instead.
It is said that this step has been taken to curb corruption and to bring out all the black money hoarded by Indians over the years. It is also said that this ban on the old notes is to beat the counterfeiters of currency from ‘making’ anymore money. But the real reason behind this ban is something else, a reason not many would know.
