After Prime Minister Narendra Modi took this stringent step of demonetization to curb black money and corruption, we saw the opposition parties coming together organizing a protest against this move of demonetization calling it “Akrosh Diwas”, which was an utter flop.

modi-12While many heated arguments are going on in the Winter session of the Parliament where the opposition is raising allegation on the ruling party over its decision of banning the higher currency notes, we also saw some opposition leaders coming in support for this move. One such leader was Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar who decided not to be a part of any such “Akrosh Diwas” drama and made it clearly evident that he was in full support of demonetization.

Nitish, voluntarily came out supporting Prime Minister’s demonetization drive and said, “I support demonetization as I’m convinced that it will help in the fight against black money”.  He had also called the decision to demonetize higher currency notes a ‘bold move’.

We have often seen a rift between Narendra Modi and Nitish Kumar in the past. But, Nitish coming out supporting a move for the development of the nation rather than following the heard of the opposition parties, shows why he is always called a sensible leader and probably one leader who we can look up to as the next Prime Minister.

Unlike ex- Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, as we expected him to at least perform his duty to his leadership and not perform the duty for his party members by speaking something insensible in the Rajya Sabha.

On Tuesday, one more opposition leader came out supporting Prime Minister’s move of demonetization. Yes, we are talking about former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav said he is in strong support of this move by Narendra Modi, but was against its poor implementation.

Earlier it was seen that RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav was supporting Mamata Banerjee, who was leading the exercise to oppose demonetization and also took out a ‘dharna‘ in Delhi and Patna. But now, Lalu has taken a back foot on his views on demonetization and will no longer oppose this move by Narendra Modi.

Walking along with Nitish Kumar on the demonetization scheme, Lalu echoed his voice in the same lane of alliance party JD(U)’s chief Nitish Kumar who has been supporting this move right from the beginning. JD(U) and RJD are partners in Bihar’s Grand alliance government along with Congress.

The Bihar Chief Minister visited Lalu at his residence after an entire day of war of words between the government and the opposition in the state legislature. Lalu supported the demonetization of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 ban in the presence of Nitish Kumar and was only unhappy about its poor implementation.

RJD MLA Alam told that both Lalu and Nitish were in the favor of the decision of demonetization. He said that Lalu Yadav was in favor of the note ban but was against its poor implementation. Alam further clarified that the former CM had invited Nitish Kumar to meet RJD legislators and discuss various issues. Alam said that Nitish heard all their queries and assured them that there was no rift between the RJD, JD(U) and Congress.
As we are now seeing opposition parties slowly crawling towards supporting the demonetization move, we are now eagerly waiting when Congress chief Rahul Gandhi and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will come out in support of this move! As of now, we can only hope for the best and keep our fingers crossed.
