Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu flagged off the first ever train with “vistadome coaches” between Visakhapatnam and Araku yesterday. The specially designed coaches have glass roofs, rotatable seats, Global Positioning System and on-board entertainment facilities.
Suresh Prabhu himself tweeted and informed about the modern train…
The glass domes have electronically controlled opalescence. As a result, the transparency of the roofs can be adjusted. Travellers along picturesque routes like the Vishakhapatnam-Araku stretch can enjoy the view along the journey, Prabhu added in a tweet.
You will be delighted to know that Railway minister Suresh Prabhu has dedicated Vistadome tourist coach to the nation. The coaches, which have an observation lounge, will be attached to the existing Vizag-Araku-Kirandul passenger train.
“They will be detached at Araku in the morning and attached again when the train returns in the evening,” Waltair divisional railway manager Chandralekha Mukherjee told the English daily. “The fare of these coaches will be higher than the existing general fare.”
A unique feature of this Rs 3.38 crore 40-seat coach is the double-wide reclining passenger seats that could be rotated 360 degrees for a better sightseeing experience.
The facilities of the train, as well as the interior/exterior of the coach, match foreign standards. Seems like Prabhu has taken even the smallest of things in the account because what we see today has never been seen before in India.
Prabhu posted a lot of tweets sharing pictures and informing people about the coach. “Glad to share pictures of new vistadome coaches having features like glass roofs,LED lights, rotatable seats,GPS based info system etc.”, one of Prabhu’s tweet read.
