The Tipu Sultan controversy has engulfed Karnataka and slowly it is gripping the entire nation. This is the reason why we bring to you today the dark truth of Tipu Sultan. A communal, bigot and a tyrant.
Once going through the memoirs of M.G.Ramachandran, the legendary actor turned CM of Tamil Nadu, I came across how he mentioned about the fact that his ancestors had to flee from the area around Dindigul due to the terror that the warrior of the God had stirred in their hearts. He was Tipu Sultan whose memorabilia is about to be established in Dindigul in AIADMK regime which calls itself the torch-bearer of the ideas of MGR.
Even more, there are people who are planning to make a biopic on him. The last time I remember such a foolery and arm twisting of history taking place was when Sanjay Khan made a tele series, “The sword of Tipu Sultan”. The serial was based on the works of a historian Bhagwan S. Gidwani and the work of Gidwani showed Tipu Sultan to be a great secular messiah fighting a lonely battle against the British. Initially Sanjay tried to show that Gidwani’s work was a real tale of the events that happened in Tipu Sultan’s life but after the orders of High Court, he was forced to add a disclaimer in the title of the series where the works by Gidwani are called as a ‘work of pure fiction’.
